Jabra is well known for bringing earbuds to market that deliver on sound and features but won’t break the bank, and that’s exactly where the Jabra Elite 4 Actives fall.

Many of us tend to start a new year with a zeal to change something, which generally veers into the health and fitness realm. Having a good set of earbuds to accompany you on that fitness journey can sometimes be half the battle – working out to your favourite tunes is a great incentive to get – and keep – moving.

Designed – as the name suggests – with the active in mind, the small, comfortable Jabra Elite 4 Actives earbuds fit snuggly, and the profile doesn’t protrude too far from the ears.

The IP rating sits at IP57, which is what you’d expect for earbuds designed to be worn at the gym or while running, offering protection from sweaty workouts. Active noise cancellation, included here, is a neat feature that’s generally not found in earbuds around this price range, and this is customisable. If you’re using ANC and running near a busy road, for example, and want to be alert to your surroundings, a mode called HearThrough will allow ambient noise in. It’s a great safety touch.

And they don’t disappoint on the sound front either. There’s plenty of bass, as you’d expect from a pair designed for working out, with good clean detail right across the board. An equaliser allows users to tweak audio settings through the Jabra Sound+ app. Four in-built microphones make for good call quality, too.

All of this is wrapped up in seven hours of battery life, with a further 28 hours in the case. Jabra proves time and again that you don’t have to steal from your child’s savings account to get a solid performing pair of earbuds. If you’re out and about getting active this summer and need some affordable sonic accompaniment, the Jabra 4 Active earbuds warrant closer inspection.

Jabra Elite 4 Active earbuds are available now in black, mint and navy.
