If you’ve decided to splash out on a big screen 4K TV that delivers amazing picture quality and sound as well as a plethora of intelligent features, the LG 65” NanoCell has all this and more…
Alongside bikes, new TVs have been on the top of the shopping list for many over lockdown. And why not? All that money saved on public transport and lunches has to be put to good use and buying a new TV to enhance your home entertainment space is a great reward for hunkering down for three months.
LG has unleashed its 2020 models at JB and we recently had the opportunity to get some hands on with the 65” Nano91 NanoCell 4K.
Before we dive into the details, you may be wondering what exactly is NanoCell technology and how does it enhance the entertainment experience? Simply put, LG’s NanoCell range utilises a nano crystal coating that’s sandwiched between the screen and the LED/LCD backlighting, enhancing colour purity by absorbing unwanted light particles and refining red and green wavelengths, with precision control of colours, contrast, brightness and those all-important solid black levels.
The pure colour gamut is complemented by in-built Dolby Vision IQ, which intelligently adjusts screen brightness, contrast and colour according to content and ambient lighting conditions. Your 4K discs will leap to vivid life in a panoply of colour, and if you’ve got a big Blu-ray collection, the TV’s onboard processor will upscale HD content to 4K; an onboard processor assesses and optimizes onscreen content through selective LED dimming of each frame. A big screen also demands big sound, and Dolby Atmos support brings a thoroughly immersive audio experience for maximum impact.
Manufactured with the movie buff in mind, the LG NanoCell features the new Filmmaker Mode™ endorsed by directors like Martin Scorsese, J.J. Abrams and James Cameron. Dedicated to recreating the cinema experience at home and delivering a picture as close as possible to what the filmmaker originally intended, Filmmaker Mode™ deactivates motion smoothing – aka the “soap opera effect” – so your movies will now look bold and beautiful, not like an episode of Bold and the Beautiful.
The NanoCell is also a great TV for gamers and sports fans, with a 200Hz refresh rate eliminating motion blur, and HDMI 2.1 input and HGiG support for HDR gaming.
The TV’s interface and navigation is fast and simple thanks to the a7 Gen 3 AI processor, which also enhances picture and audio sources, while the ThinQ AI allows you to integrate the NanoCell into your smart home set up and enjoy voice control through built-in Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Alternatively, the remote doubles as a wand that you can wave about like Harry Potter to control selections from the UI. You can also cast from your smartphone using Apple Airplay 2 and Apple Homekit.
Every smart home ecosystem needs a dedicated entertainment hub and the LG 65” NanoCell is everything you want in a big screen, intelligent 4K TV at an affordable price point.
