Microsoft’s iconic 2-in-1 has been redesigned with more screen real estate, smoother functionality, and the fast response of the Intel Evo platform.
If you’re looking for a PC device with the power of a laptop and the portability of a tablet, the Microsoft Pro 8 has all that and more.
This is the first Surface Pro to feature the Intel Evo platform, which means it’s more responsive than previous iterations, wakes in less than a second, delivers superior connectivity with Wi-Fi 6 and Thunderbolt 4, and the battery life will last a lot longer (up to 12 hours) and charge a lot faster. What’s not to love?
This added processing power makes the Pro 8 a reliable workhorse, too, if you prefer to add a keyboard (sold separately) and use it as a lightweight laptop.
The aesthetically pleasing, thin bezel display is larger at 13-inches and delivers a sharp and clear image at 2880 x 1920 resolution. It’s also considerably brighter than its predecessor, making it ideal for use outdoors or when you need to focus on the finer details of a design project.
Multi-touch PixelSense Flow means a fast response every time, and the refresh rate has been upgraded to 120Hz to deliver the level of motion smoothing you’d find on many top-tier televisions – you’ll definitely notice a difference when gaming, streaming sports, getting creative with the Surface Slim Pen 2 (sold separately and the perfect match for this device), or simply web browsing.
The webcam has also been improved, with a 1080p 5MP front facing camera that automatically adjusts to lighting conditions, so you’ll always look good during video conferences, while a rear 10MP camera adds 4K video for those content creation projects and home movies. And the built-in kickstand adjusts to almost 180 degrees, keeping the Pro 8 stable and versatile for use at any angle.
And it sounds great, too, with dual front-facing speakers that deliver seriously dynamic audio and Dolby Atmos support for that extra punch when streaming films or gaming, while dual far-field microphones will enhance the clarity of your video calls.
The Pro 8’s enhanced connectivity includes two USB-C ports, Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6, while Thunderbolt 4 support allows you to effortlessly multitask across a number of 4K screens and quickly access folders and files from external hard drives. Plus, there’s One Drive PC backup to save and synch your files across multiple devices.
This new iteration of Microsoft’s renowned 2-in-1 gives you the performance, features and functionality you need from a premium tablet, albeit with a lot more grunt under the hood and the added bonus of Windows 11. This Pro’s a winner.
