Big Thief UFOFOn their third album, Brooklyn quartet Big Thief once again stun with a collection of delicate songs offset by a quiet devastation.

Adrianne Lenker’s haunting vocal serves as the cornerstone of the band, with the abstract tales that she weaves brought to life by richly layered compositions that tap directly into each track’s inherent melancholy. A song like Contact, which references swimming, talks of sinking in the same breath; a song about love such as Orange is marred by lies.

On U.F.O.F. Big Thief somehow turn moments of darkness into warmth and it’s this skill that takes ahold of their listeners and doesn’t let go.

U.F.O.F. is out May 3 via 4AD/Remote Control.
