In Huntly’s words, a ‘low grade buzz’ is the existential crisis that comes with Sunday’s comedown – the realisations made in isolation that have you scrutinising over every facet of your life.
It’s these explorations that make the Melbourne trio’s debut album feel life-affirming, and while songs are deeply contemplative, they also feel triumphant too. Not pinning themselves to one style or genre, the trio incorporate drum ‘n’ bass arrangements, propulsive beats, and even a choir to bring their songs to life. Here Huntly make the personal both political and powerful, asserting themselves not only as dynamic producers, but people with vital things to say.
Low Grade Buzz is out March 15 via Barely Dressed Records.
