James Taylor Warner Bros Albums coverAfter the breakup of his band The Flying Machine in 1966, (referenced in the hit song Fire And Rain), James Taylor moved to London to pursue a solo career.

Peter Asher, former member of pop duo Peter & Gordon, now the A&R head for The Beatles’ Apple Records, was impressed enough by Taylor’s demos to record an album with the singer-songwriter.

While not a big seller, the record led to a deal with Warner Music, who have recently released this boxset of Taylor’s six albums with the label. They include many of his biggest hits: Fire And Rain, Sweet Baby James, You’ve Got a Friend, Don’t Let Me Be Lonely Tonight, and How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You). Asher, who became Taylor’s longtime manager and record producer, is currently touring Australia with guitar legend Albert Lee.

The Warner Bros. Albums: 1970-1976 by James Taylor is out now via Warner.
