Lux Prima does not disappoint, with the intrigue ignited during the album’s opening track held throughout the record. There’s a grandness to Danger Mouse’s production that carries Karen O’s vocals perfectly, and when sparkling synths unite with her hushed delivery on Ministry, a captivating atmosphere is conjured. Each song is paced immaculately, with layers of instrumentation including horns and strings building up to sweeping, cinematic apexes.
Lux Prima is an album of serious magnitude, a statement that both Karen O and Danger Mouse are two artists at the top of their game.
Lux Prima is out now via BMG.
