Meg Mac album cover HopeMeg Mac doesn’t exactly sound like Adele, but it’s a valid comparison, because her voice is capable of soaring even when she’s in pain.

And it’s a vocal that sounds both fragile and fierce – no mean feat.

This mini-album is spearheaded by Mac’s 2018 single Give Me My Name Back, an empowering piece of pop about identity and dignity. Then there’s Something Tells Me, the tale of a dysfunctional relationship, where “I’m better when you’re gone.” Mac’s electro-soul sound packs an emotional punch. “Number one,” she declares in Want Me To Stay. She’s referring to a relationship, but she also deserves to top the charts.
