Having released his debut solo effort Stoney two years ago, Austin Richard Post is back again with more authentic, hard-hitting lyrical ecstasy on his latest album. If you’re not sick of hearing Rockstar and Psycho yet, Beerbongs & Bentleys needs to be your next purchase. Stand-out tracks include Better Now and opener Paranoid, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find any track that doesn’t make a real impression.
Post’s prowess in mixing hip hop and R’n’B has granted him a beloved reputation among fans, with the truth of his lyrics always managing to hit home. Though he’s described his music as “genreless”‘, there’s just no way you can label the 22-year-old talentless. Post manages to give insight into his personal life throughout the tracklist, and listeners will feel the candour of each song’s founding, whether it’s a commentary on the artist’s lifestyle or a lament over a former fling. With Beerbongs & Bentleys, Post stretches his musical boundaries, and is all the better for it.
Beerbongs & Bentleys is out now via Republic/Universal.
