Outer Peace showcases the best of Toro Y Moi’s craft, balancing R’n’B, electronic, funk and disco-influenced beats with contemplative and incisive lyrics. The artist describes his intentions in a press release: “This record is a response to how disposable culture has become and how it affects creativity. While listening, you might pay attention or ignore – either way that’s ok, this is music for a creative mind.”
These are songs to fuel the imagination, from one of the most inventive producers at work today. And with their sharp rhythms and sharper observations on modern life, quite impossible to ignore.
Outer Peace is out January 18 via Mistletone/Inertia.
