Elton John is to adapt The Devil Wears Prada into a Broadway musical.
The British music icon is teaming up with US playwright Paul Rudnick for the project, which will be based on Lauren Weisberger’s best-selling 2003 novel and the 2006 film.
“I’m a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world,” John says. “I can’t wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture.”
The Devil Wears Prada tells the story of an aspiring young writer – played in the movie by Anne Hathaway – who takes a job as an assistant to a hellish fashion magazine editor (an Oscar nominated turn from Meryl Streep).
