Here’s a sampler of the piping hot music available this week in JB stores.
A.B. Original, Reclaim Australia
If you haven’t yet seen A.B. Original’s seriously incredible Like A Version from last week, or read our extensive interview with Briggs and Trials, be sure to do those things. Then have a listen to Reclaim Australia for yourself; Our Jake called it “a political bomb drop from the title down.” It’s out on CD and vinyl.
Gillian Welch, Boots No.1: The Official Revival Bootleg
This week Nashville singer-songwriter Gillian Welch releases the official bootleg of her 1996 debut Revival, created along with her partner in music and life, Dave Rawlings. Our Denise described the tracks as “songs that have stood the test of time and will continue to be timeless.”
Alex Izenberg, Harlequin
Hailing from LA, Alex Izenberg has created something truly magical in his debut album Harlequin. It’s the result of a five-year journey under a variety of nom de plumes, and Our Simon W was entranced; he called it “a detailed window into the imagination of a romantic hero.” Get it on both CD and vinyl.
Metallica, Hard Wired… To Self-Destruct
The boys are back with “a consistency not heard in decades,” according to Our Simon L. You absolutely must get your ears around Metallica’s latest (which is available on CD, vinyl, and also in an amazing deluxe edition) or at the very least, watch them play Enter Sandman on little kids’ instruments with Jimmy Kimmel. Adorable.
