The ‘Aussie SXSW’ – also known as BIGSOUND – is upon us in QLD’s Fortitude Valley from September 4-7. In the lead-up, we’re taking a look at some of the most promising names who’ll be appearing at the conference and festival.
Led by pocket rocket Caitlin Henry, pop-punk up-and-comers Eat Your Heart Out have been rising through the ranks of the Australian scene as fast as anyone in recent memory. Ready to tear up Brisbane for BIGSOUND this month, we got to know the Novocastrians a little better.
What sets your music apart?
I feel like this is hard to really know when you can’t look at your band and music with an outside perspective, but we are just five best friends trying to make genuine music about real things ,and have a good time along the way. We hope that shows from the outside, and people can feel that.
Which movie scene would your latest single suit?
I think our latest single Rust would suit a fun action scene… like someone playing an intense game of lawn bowls.
Give us your best useless fact.
The oldest cat in the world was 38 years old.
What can we expect from you at BIGSOUND next month?
You can expect two energetic and emotive performances, and we will be playing two different sets, so we’d recommend coming to check both out!
Which BIGSOUND acts are you looking forward to seeing?
Slowly Slowly, because I feel like there’s heaps of genuine emotion in their music and I’ve never seen them before – but from what I’ve heard they put on a killer show.
What are you working on at the moment? Plans for the near future?
We are currently working on new material and will be touring in and outside Australia for the rest of this year!
For fans of: Tonight Alive, Knucklepuck.
