BIGSOUND logoBIGSOUND – Australia’s festival/conference knees-up to celebrate the best in new, homegrown music – will be upon us in QLD’s Fortitude Valley from September 3-6, 2019. In the lead-up, we’re putting a few questions to the most promising names who’ll be performing. Click here to see more chats with the acts we think will own this year’s BIGSOUND!

MILAN RING

If you’re recording your vocals/raps/guitar with SZA, DRAM and Cosmo’s Midnight, you’re barking up the correct tree. If you’re also mixing, mastering and producing said material, you’ve climbed the tree and you’re dancing in the moonlight amongst the leaves at the tippy-top. Welcome to the wonderful world of Milan Ring.

What sets your music apart?

Almost all of my music is written, produced and mixed by me which allows me to keep everything very authentic and aligned with my vision.

Which movie scene would your latest single suit?

One of my latest singles Green Light would be perfect for Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof. I actually had that movie playing out in my mind whilst writing the lyrics.

Give us your best useless fact – about yourself, or the world.

We peel bananas the wrong way. It’s much easier from the non-handle end – that’s how primates do it. We must have de-evolved there 🤷🏽‍♀️

What can we expect from you at BIGSOUND?

I will be bringing my visual team up with me! So I am hoping we can execute some really cool visuals for all three showcases. I think this will really compliment the music and create a really nice overall live show. I’ll also be doing a little presentation with Ableton, which will be a performance and break down of my single Step Back.

Which BIGSOUND acts are you looking forward to seeing?

Soo many! Hoping times align to see as many of these artists as possible; Adrian Eagle, Electric Fields, Jaguar Jonze, DRMNGNOW, Kobie Dee, Kymie, Mariam Sawires, Mojo Juju, Rebecca Hatch, Savage The Girl, Stevan.

What should we look out for on your post-BIGSOUND horizon?

New music of course! Some more summer festival announcements, more touring. Also going on holiday straight after BIGSOUND for a quick reset before we hit the ground running for the silly season… That’s if a whale shark doesn’t eat me!

Milan Ring plays Family on Tues Sep 2, Ric’s Backyard on Wed Sep 4, and the Levi’s Showcase at The Valley Drive-In later in the evening on Wed Sep 4.
