This morning, two of the all-time coolest announced upcoming Australian tours: heavy metal party lord Andrew W.K. and virtuoso pop icon David Byrne.

Andrew W.K. will be playing just two shows – one in Melbourne and one in Sydney – in support of his brilliant album of earlier this year You’re Not Alone, which we made STACK‘s Album of the Month, and about which we chatted with the Californian heavy rocker. Along with his six-piece band, W.K. is sure to deliver a pair of show which won’t deflate his notoriously fly-kicking, hard-moshing reputation. Tickets go on sale Wednesday June 13 at 9am, via Destroy All Lines.

Saturday 25 August, Corner Hotel, Melbourne VIC

Sunday 26 August, Manning Bar, Sydney VIC

Meanwhile, author/visual artist/solo artist/Talking Heads bandleader David Byrne has announced four shows to hit us in November. Byrne will be bringing along his 12-piece band who apparently have an insane choreographed show up their sleeves, which Byrne has called “the most ambitious show I’ve done since the shows that were filmed for Stop Making Sense.” They’ll perform songs from his most recent (and beloved) album American Utopia (our review of which you can find here), as well cuts from his Talking Heads days.

Tickets go on sale Monday June 18 at noon, via Frontier.
