With another collection of rare and remixed tracks from The Beatles soon to hit in The White Album 2018 Deluxe Edition, two demos of George Harrison’s much-loved While My Guitar Gently Weeps have been officially released.

OK, so The Beatles’ ninth studio album may have officially just been self-titled, but you’d be hard-pressed to find anybody who doesn’t now refer to it as The White Album.

This first version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps here is from really early on in the song’s life – the “Esher demo” recorded at George’s house where the band convened in May 1968…

Here’s a demo from two months later in July 1968, complete with comments from George and lyrics – such as “I look from the wings at the play you are staging…” and “As I’m sitting here doing nothing but ageing” – that didn’t make the final cut…

Finally, here’s the full 2018 mix…

The White Album 2018 Deluxe Edition – overseen by “sixth Beatle” George Martin’s son Giles – will be available on CD and vinyl from November 9.

The four-LP vinyl edition features the new stereo remix over two slices of vinyl and the complete 27 Esher demos collection on the other two, in a natty box with four-page booklet, fold-out poster and embossed covers.

The three-CD release comes in an embossed digipak with fold-out poster and 24-page booklet.
