Except under rare circumstances, every new song needs to have a demo version. Before John and Yoko’s famous 1969 ‘Bed-in’, they used another hotel for a practice run at Give Peace a Chance.
Definitely more laid back – and that’s saying something as the version of the anti-war anthem that we know and love was, of course, recorded in bed – it’s a treat to see the pair looking happy and having fun. Check out the previously unreleased video, recorded at the Sheraton Oceanus Hotel in the Bahamas, below.
This demo version also features on the ‘SuperDeluxe’ version of Plastic Ono Band: The Ultimate Collection, which is due for release on April 23. Completely remixed from original multitracks, it’s been overseen by Yoko Ono Lennon. This version contains an incredible collection of rarities, spread over six CDs and two Blu-ray audio discs – in all there’s over 17 hours to get immersed in! The package is rounded out with a postcard and poster, plus a 132-page hardback book that houses rare photos, memorabilia & extensive notes.
There will also be a standard CD release, and deluxe CD and vinyl versions.
