Album cover artwork for Charli XCXGather round, Charli’s Angels, ‘cos the English electro-pop icon has dropped news of her fifth studio album – and released a stunning track featuring two fellow mega-queens.

The Grammy-nommed musician disclosed its details in regal fashion, with this shouty declaration:

“I, CHARLI XCX AM ANNOUNCING MY 5TH STUDIO ALBUM: CRASH – OUT 18TH MARCH

I AM ALSO RELEASING ONE OF THE MOST EXQUISITE TRACKS FROM THE ALBUM – ALTHOUGH HONESTLY, ALL THE TRACKS ARE TOTALLY DIVINE.

‘NEW SHAPES’ FEATURES MY DEMONICALLY TALENTED FRIENDS CAROLINE POLACHEK AND CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS.

I SUMMONED UP DEATON CHRIS ANTHONY AND LINUS WIKLUND FROM THE DEPTHS OF HELL TO PRODUCE IT.”

Charli’s selected guests on New Shapes are highly revered and decorated in their own right; Caroline Polachek co-founded bedroom-pop outfit Chairlift before striking out on her own, releasing the critically acclaimed, cult art-pop album Pang in 2019. Meanwhile, gifted French singer-songwriter Héloïse Adélaïde Letissier – AKA Christine and the Queens – has been a incredibly sought-after collaborator since her ground-breaking and record-smashing debut Chaleur humaine in 2014.
