Album cover artwork for Courtney Barnett with blue vinyl record popping outLo-fi lord of relatability Courtney Barnett has released the clip to accompany her single Before You Gotta Go, from upcoming album Things Take Time, Take Time – and it honestly did our mental laundry with its very weird, hypnotic, calming narrative.

It’s the second single from Barnett’s album, which is due out in its entirety on November 12 and follows 2018’s #2-placing Tell Me How You Really Feel. We’d previously heard the track – a sweet confirmation of solidarity, addressed to the heart of a loved one with whom you’ve exchanged angry words – with a visualiser, but the clip is its own stunning piece of art.

Director Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore shares: “Making this clip was an interestingly polarising experience for me. I love how brilliantly simple Courtney’s idea was, it brought real joy shooting part of it together, just me, her and my DOP with the other part being two long days directing over zoom across the Tasman Sea. I watch it now and feel that sense of peace, that potent calm you can only get immersed in the beauty of nature.”
