Well, grab the Pineapple Lumps and call me Jacinda: New Zealand (and adoptive Australian) icons Crowded House have just announced the Dreamers are Waiting tour – set to go ahead in April next year.

Of course we’ve been champing at the veritable bit to hear this news, particularly after the band won Best Adult Contemporary Album at the ARIAs last week for Dreamers are Waiting (you can read our interview with Neil Finn about the album right here, as well as our album review), but be assured, we haven’t been the only ones waiting. The adored five-piece played to their native fans earlier this year, but that was still only their first national tour since 2010!

They certainly made it count, though, as according to sources (read: a rapturous internet) they nailed each and every performance with the kind of dexterous grace you’d expect from a band whose collected history goes back 35 years, and is comprised of old friends bound by huge triumph and tragedy – and of course, a couple of extra Finns.

There’s two dates you need to put in your diary. There’s your actual show date (which could be any one of the seven below), and December 10, which is when tickets go on sale for the normies. (If you’re an American Express card holder or registered for Live Nation pre-sale, it’s a little earlier; scroll below the dates for those deets.) It’s also possible  that you already have your ticket; the final show of the tour will be at Byron Bay’s Bluesfest, on April 17.

There’s two more brilliant little bits of info you should note. First is that all dates will see support from our own Middle Kids! The trio themselves won an ARIA last week too: Best Rock Album for their corker Today We’re the Greatest; you can read all about how that album came together in our chat with frontwoman Hannah Joy, right here!.

The second dollop of goodness is that for the fancy winery date for A Day on the Green (April 16), Crowded House will be joined by The Teskey Brothers!

What’s not to love, here?

So start your engines, chums – here are the dates, and here’s where you buy tickets. You should also hit that last link for all extra info (like VIP packages and types of tickets available.)
