Mysterioso French electronic duo Daft Punk – whose last album Random Access Memories was released seven years ago, in 2013 – have offered themselves up as musical score-writers to legendary filmmaker Dario Argento.

According to reports, the musicians heard that the legendary Italian giallo auteur was working on a new film (titled Occhiali Neri, or Black Glasses) which will star his daughter Asia, through mutual French friends.

“They are my admirers, they know all my cinema,” Argento said (according to translation), “and called me [to say], ‘We want to work with you.’” He continued that the band will shortly be sending him the very first arrangements, and that as soon as it’s allowed, will travel to Rome to meet him. Argento added that the band think his script is one of the “most interesting” he’s ever created.

And what is the film about? Here’s how the filmmaker described it: ““It will be my return to crime films. It’s the adventure, in the nocturnal Rome, of a Chinese girl and child. In the second part, the escape takes them into the rocky, bushy countryside of Lazio. [It’s] different from the sweetness of the Tuscan valleys, but for me beautiful.”
