You know those Echo & the Bunnymen classics that you cherish? Well, they’ll still be around when updated versions hit with new album The Stars, the Oceans & the Moon.
Described as “Bunnymen classics transformed and new songs with strings and things attached,” the album – their first since 2014’s Meteorites – is slated for a May 2018 release.
Ian McCulloch has made a statement to head off any fan backlash, claiming “I’m not doing this for anyone else. I’m doing it as it’s important to me to make the songs better. I have to do it.”
As we said earlier, nobody’s taking the originals away from us, so these updates could at the very least be interesting.
Echo & the Bunnymen will also be doing a brief UK tour around the same time as the album’s release, culminating in a Royal Albert Hall show on June 1. Oh how we’d love to be there for that!
Meanwhile, here’s an absolute classic from the Bunnymen for you to enjoy…
