New York-born alternative band Frankie Cosmos has released a music video for their new song Wannago, which leaves fans uplifted and somewhat hungry.
The clip features the band acting as baking show contestants to be judged by the four alters of Greta Kline, each reflective of a different type of food snob. It incorporates Frankie Cosmos’ love of The Great British Bake Off and comedian Catherine Cohen as the quintessential reality TV show host, eccentric to say the least.
Whilst offering light-hearted entertainment, the music video plugs the band’s upcoming album, Close it Quietly, which is to be released on the September 6, 2019. According to the Kline, the song “feels very wide-eyed and is purely about love, distance, and life,” which is a fantastic result considering the band nearly gave up on the song. “It felt too hard, and I found some of the lyrics embarrassing,” Kline added. Luckily, bassist Alex Bailey suggested the band push through their discomfort and, in effect, produced something fans would call an absolute hit!
The band has announced a three-leg tour, the first beginning in Boston in September, and ends in their very own New York City, which opens with a comedy act by TV show host impersonator Catherine Cohen. The tour then continues overseas in Germany, Prague, Amsterdam, Paris and London, and then back to the US for the third leg.
Close It Quietly by Frankie Cosmos is out September 6 via Sub Pop.
