Scottish rock icons Garbage have always been defiant in their approach to both the music industry and the wider world – but they’ve never employed a ferocity as undisguised as that which appears on upcoming album No Gods No Masters, their most politically-charged record yet.
Says frontwoman Shirley Manson: “This is our seventh record, the significant numerology of which affected the DNA of its content: the seven virtues, the seven sorrows, and the seven deadly sins. It was our way of trying to make sense of how f-cking nuts the world is, and the astounding chaos we find ourselves in. It’s the record we felt that we had to make at this time.”
No Gods No Masters drops this Friday and is available in a number of different editions and formats, including neon green vinyl (pictured above right) and white vinyl.
No Gods No Masters by Garbage is out June 11 via Liberator.
