Sassy NZ soul-peach Gin Wigmore has released the second single from an upcoming album, and it’s animated by Liana Finck of The New Yorker.

Beatnik Trip is typically gritty Gin, with thumping percussion and a jangly tambo never far away. Finck’s black line drawings reflect that super raw feel with a David Shrigley kind of awareness.

The clip is the second collaboration (after last month’s Hallow Fate) in Wigmore’s GIRLGANG project:

Over the next seven months, Gin will release five songs taken from her upcoming fourth album, each one a collaboration with a different female artist. The artists, personally chosen by Gin, were assigned a song best suited to their particular artistic approach and asked to use the song as inspiration for their creations.

The GIRLGANG project is designed to highlight and celebrate fellow women and to find a new way to have an experience and connection with music through a variety of artistic formats. Any art piece that yields a monetary profit will be donated between KidsCan Charitable Trust and The Sanctuary At Soledad Goats.
