Yes, as the headline says, Golden Plains 2018 has been announced, and it’s bringing us The Avalanches and Grizzly Bear.
According to a missive received from Aunty Meredith, it will take place from March 10-12 at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre. Unlike many festivals, there’s one stage, so you don’t have to miss out on any performances. It’s also totally B.Y.O., so you won’t have to drop insane bucks just for a bottle of water.
Joining The Avalanches and Grizzly Bear will be the likes of Kamasi Washington, The Preatures, King Krule, Waterfall Person, The Black Angels, Jen Cloher, Floating Points, Lee Fields and the Expressions, Batpiss, Objekt, Perfume Genius, Kaiit, Rocket Science, Thundercat, Wet Lips, Baker Boy, bass legend Adrian Sherwood, Toni Yotzi, Tropical F-ck Storm and a bunch more to be announced later.
The ticket ballot has commenced, and is open until 10pm on Tuesday, October 24. If you’re already subscribed you can access the ballot by clicking the link in your spesh personalised email (and don’t forget not to let your mates use your link), but if not you can still sign up to receive your ballot form here.
If you end up scoring a ticket, you’ll be looking at $383.30, which might sound like a lot – but remember that Golden Plains remains 100% sponsor-less, plus there’s that wonderful B.Y.O. option, and the price includes camping, parking, those nefarious booking fees and, of course, a whole lot of stellar music.
As a taster, here’s The Avalanches’ Since I Left You, just because it’s brilliant…
