Album cover artwork for HorsegirlAs one of the most mega-anticipated bands scheduled to strut their wares at this weekend’s SXSW festival, Horsegirl are not shying away from the hype. They’ve just dropped a suitably lo-fi but strangely bewitching new clip, which gives us a very specific type of nostalgia.

Check out World of Pots and Pans below, which comes from the Chicago trio’s upcoming album Versions of Modern Performance. While it doesn’t utilise CGI or OK Go-level filmic brilliance, it does take us back to classroom afternoons where simple shadows were just as interesting as anything else technology had to offer.

If you need a refresher on this Grulke Prize-winning three-piece, here it is: Horsegirl comprises best buds Penelope Lowenstein (guitar and vocals), Nora Cheng (guitar and vocals), and Gigi Reece (drums). Reece and Cheng are college freshmen and Lowenstein is in her last year of high school, and they all met while enrolled in various spots within Chicago’s youth arts programs. They love to swap instruments, make visuals together, and create some of the most charming, gravelly pop-rock out.

Watch World of Pots and Pans below, and head over to JB to get your pre-order in for Versions of Modern Performance.

Versions of Modern Performance by Horsegirl is out June 3 via Matador/Remote Control.
