Husky are dropping one more single from their Punchbuzz album – Walking in Your Sleep – and are setting off on a brief local tour to celebrate.
The psychedelic folk rock duo from Melbourne have been busy, jetsetting it from Melbourne’s Corner Hotel in Melbourne and way beyond to the likes of Amsterdam, London and Germany.
in describing the new single, the band’s Gawenda says…
“Walking in Your Sleep is a song I wrote during a period of intense dreaming brought on by the meticulous recording of my dreams. I became obsessed with the possibilities of the dream realm – lucid dreaming, self-exploration, unlocking the unconscious – and how that would affect my waking life and perhaps more so, my writing. The more I slipped in and out of this dream realm, the less I knew the difference between dream and reality and the more they mirrored each other. If I listen back to the song now, I hear an exploration of longing that in my waking life I was trying to escape, but was wrestling with every night in my sleep.”
“We shaped much of the sonic palette for the song and stumbled upon sounds and textures that were surprising to us,” adds Gideon Priess, Gawenda’s cousin and other half of the duo. “The result is a tip of the hat to some of our favourite recording artists from the ’70s like The Doors, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan and Pink Floyd.”
As for the tour, it’s a small but perfectly formed string of dates in April, before the pair head back to Europe for the summer festival circuit.
