Yes, the guy we also know as Jurassic World‘s Dr Ian Malcolm is laying down some tunes for release – and cool cat that he is you can likely guess what genre he digs. Yep, jazz.
Goldblum has been signed to renowned record label Decca and will release his debut album later this year.
It all stems from an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, where Goldblum – who learned classical piano as a kid and switched to playing jazz clubs in his mid-teens – tinkled the ivories with American singer/songwriter Gregory Porter.
Tom Lewis, Decca’s head of A&R, said in a statement: “As far as I can tell, everyone loves Jeff Goldblum. It’s like a universal truth. His love of jazz is infectious and whenever he plays he makes you feel very happy. If we can take Jeff’s music into people’s homes then we will be helping, in our own small way, to make the world a happier place.”
Aww! Meanwhile, Goldblum seems pretty, ahem, jazzed about the deal.
“I’m so happy to be in cahoots with the wonderful people at Decca, one of the coolest and most prestigious labels of all time,” said Goldblum.
While we await the album, here’s where it all began…
