Thrash metal iconoclast Dave Mustaine and his band Megadeth have announced the group’s upcoming 16th album The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead! (the title of which presents a very satisfyingly return to their ‘ellipses and exclamation mark’ trend of yore) and released its first, extremely huge single We’ll Be Back.

“For the first time in a long time, everything that we needed on this record is right in its place; I can’t wait for the public to get hold of this!” Mustaine has enthused.

In development for more than two years, The Sick… will be the band’s first album in six years (the longest gap between LPs throughout the LA act’s entire career), and it’ll be the first Megadeth album to feature drummer Dirk Verbeuren, who joined the band in 2016 during the tour of previous album Dystopia (2016).

It’s all set to land on September 2, via Universal.

Get excited for greatness with the short film accompaniment to new single We’ll be Back, which was produced by Mustaine and tells the origin story of Megadeth’s mascot, Vic Rattlehead; watch below.
