The lavish Mercury Prize shindig for 2017 has just taken place in London, and the winner is… Sampha!

The South London muso – and one-time Drake collaborator – had some serious competition, including Ed Sheeran and The xx, and seemed quite blown away at coming out on top at the awards with his debut album, Process.

Celebrating the best album of the year by British or Irish artists, this year’s voters included Marcus Mumford (Mumford and Sons), Jamie Cullum and a bunch of radio types.

The other nominees for this year’s Mercury Prize were:

Alt-J – Relaxer
Blossoms – Blossoms
Dinosaur – Together, As One
Ed Sheeran – Divide
Glass Animals – How to Be a Human Being
J Hus – Common Sense
Kate Tempest – Let Them Eat Chaos
Loyle Carner – Yesterday’s Gone
Sampha – Process
Stormzy  Gang Signs & Prayer
The Big Moon – Love in the Fourth Dimension
The xx – I See You
