From innovative pop in Split Enz to the world-beating majesty of Crowded House, Neil Finn has never been one to sit still for long.
While many acts will do a live stream here or there, Finn is doing his thing each Friday at 5pm AEST this month. The final one will double as the recording of his new album, Out of Silence, which will be rush-released on the following Friday, September 1.
To quote the man himself, “Every Friday in August at 7pm NZT/5pm AEST, I will be performing on a live stream from my studio in Auckland. During these Friday sessions you’ll be witness to a series of musical happenings featuring friends, family, fellow songwriters and singers playing tunes both old and brand new. You can follow the progress of new song arrangements as we build towards the last stream on August 25. This final performance will be the actual recording of my new solo album.”
Access the stream from Finn’s Facebook page.
Here’s Finn himself to tell us a bit more about his cunning plan – be warned though, it’s filmed in Lars von Trier-like wobblyvision…
