Kiwi pop icon Lorde has announced her upcoming third album Solar Power with a single and clip of the same name, and excuse us while we drop everything to listen to it.

In her first new music since 2017 (which was when she released her #1 album Melodrama), Solar Power (the song) was co-written and -produced by Jack Anatoff (yes, he of Taylor Swift, St. Vincent and Lana Del Rey fame; also worth mentioning that his own band Bleachers, for which is is vocalist, have an album due out in August) who also played drums and guitar on the song.

Backing vocals are provided by Phoebe Bridgers and Clairo.

Here’s how Lorde herself described the upcoming record in a newsletter to her fans:

“The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through. I want this album to be your summer companion, the one you pump on the drive to the beach. The one that lingers on your skin like a tan as the months get cooler again.”
