Actually, they don’t plug in – but hey, the drums are real! Why are Nirvana in Radio Shack? To record videos for their freshly recorded 1988 demos.

This footage includes a few stops and starts of tracks ‘If You Must’ and ‘Paper Cuts’. It also features some fabulous flying leaps from Kurt Cobain, while two-metre tall giant Krist Novoselic absolutely dwarfs his bass. If the drummer doesn’t look familiar, he’s pre-Dave sticks bloke Dale Crover, who went on to play in The Melvins.

The clip comes from super-connected music fan Mike Ziegler. He’s also posted a bunch of fascinating Nirvana interviews to his YouTube page, along with all manner of great live footage from a whole bunch of bands that matter.
