The Ghost Inside comes a little over four-and-a-half years since the appalling tour bus accident in Texas that claimed the lives of both drivers and resulted in a laundry list of injuries for the survivors: vocalist Jonathan Vigil received two broken ankles, a fractured back and ligament damage; guitarist Zach Johnson’s femur was shattered and has so-far required 13 separate surgeries; and drummer Andrew Tkaczyk was in a coma for 10 days after which his leg was amputated.
But says bassist Jim Riley: “This isn’t about what happened to us – we won’t get lost in that one day. This is about our journey, our growth, and who we are… For anyone that has followed the story of The Ghost Inside for the last five years, one line in [single] Aftermath sums it all up: ‘Triumph over tragedy.'”
