Green Day have revealed that they have a connection to NASA’s InSight lander mission that has just touched down on Mars.

If you’re thinking that “InSight” was a word that NASA desperately wanted to become an acronym then you’d be right, with it standing for “Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport”. Even if it should really be “IeSight”. Maybe Microsoft wouldn’t have that?

Anyway, back to Green Day. They’ve revealed their connection to the mission via Twitter.

Obviously there’s a fan working at NASA or one of its techy bits and bobs suppliers, for – as the Tweet says – a chip in the lander features the inscription “Green Day since 1986”. Which, let’s face it, is pretty cool.
