Album cover artwork for Rex Orange CountyEnglish bedroom-pop phenom Alexander James O’Connor – AKA Rex Orange County – has announced his follow-up to Pony, the 2019 dark horse LP which hit #4 on the ARIA charts and made a bunch of teens sprint to the garage to dust off their Yamaha keyboard.

The new album is called WHO CARES? and will be out early March, and its first taster is the gorgeous li’l self-affirmation anthem KEEP IT UP. It’s accompanied by a video which sees Alex having a very lekker day cavorting around Amsterdam: boating the canals, bicycling the streets, showing off his whiteboy moves from atop straat-bridges while confused Dutchmen wander past.

In case you need a bit of background info on this humble genius: O’Connor grew up in the English village of Greyshott, listening to Stevie Wonder and Weezer while dreaming of attending London’s prestigious performing arts institution, the BRIT School (whose alumni include Adele, King Krule, FKA Twigs, Amy Winehouse and Tom Holland) – something he in fact achieved at 16 years old.

He released his mixtape Bcos U Will Never B Free in 2015, his debut album Apricot Princess in 2017, and his break-out sophomore effort and Pony two years later.
