Following similarly joyful headline announcements from other international artists (looking at you Lorde, Faith No More, Belinda Carlisle, Violent Femmes, Billy Bragg, The Strokes, UB40, Patti Smith, The Backstreet Boys, My Chemical Romance, we’ll stop now), tha Doggfather himself – Snoop Dogg – has just laid his 2022 Oz tour plans on us.
Old mate hasn’t been to our shores since 2014 when he headlined Big Day Out (watch footage of that below, and be warned: drugs are mentioned), so he is ready and rearing to kick off the I WANNA THANK ME tour in October next year. It’s named for his 2019 album, itself named for the rapper’s truly iconic speech at the unveiling of his Hollywood Walk Of Fame star, in November 2018: “I wanna thank me. I wanna thank me for believing in me. I wanna thank me for doing all this hard work. I wanna thank me for having no days off.”
Sir, this is a tear in my eye. We thank you too.
The I WANNA THANK ME tour is doing the rounds of indoor arenas in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane; pre-sale is this Friday, general sale is thie Monday, and all the rest of the details are at the ticketing link right here.
