The 12 finalists for 2019’s Mercury Music Prize have been announced.

This marks the 28th year of the awards, for which a panel of industry types vote for what they think is the best album released by a UK artist between – this past year at least – July 21, 2018 and July 19, 2019. A live ceremony will happen on September 19 at which the prize will be awarded.

Last year’s deserving winners were Wolf Alice for their Visions of a Life album.

Here’s the somewhat politically-charged – no surprise there considering where Britain’s at currently – list of 2019 nominees:

Anna Calvi – Hunter
Black Midi – Schlagenheim
Cate Le Bon – Reward
Dave – Psychodrama
Foals – Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost
Fontaines DC – Dogrel
Idles – Joy As an Act of Resistance
Little Simz – Grey Area
Nao – Saturn
SEED Ensemble – Driftglass
Slowthai – Nothing Great About Britain
The 1975 – A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships
