Our favourite lads from Bangor, Northern Ireland have revealed a brand new track this morning; Talk premiered on BBC Radio 1 with Annie Mac, and was aired soon after on Triple J Breakfast.
Talk is Two Door Cinema Club’s first release since 2016 album Gameshow, and it is another glittery slice of pop pie, full of synth and electro pop – a fresh but familiar offering, dipping its toes in a disco shuffle and social side-eye.
Speaking about the track, singer Alex Trimble explains: “I love the pop thing. I love experimenting and going to different places, I love doing things that are a little bit wonky and I love the idea of doing something we haven’t done before – why can’t we do all of those things at once? That’s what it was, doing whatever felt right… It sounds like Two Door Cinema Club – not a Two Door Cinema Club there’d ever been before, but that’s what I love. We can always do something new, but it always feels like something we’ve done.”
There’s also a bizarre and playful clip, directed by conceptual artist Max Sidentopf (who is responsible for this Toto Forever installation), which sees the trio – donning some slick red suits – bouncing between all kinds of random abstract ideas.
No official news on their much-anticipated fourth studio album, but we will let you know as soon as we do. The band have also just been announced on the huge Glastonbury ’19 line-up, alongside The Killers, The Cure and Our Kylie. Check out the full list below – and here’s hoping for a summer festival run Down Under this year.
