Violent Soho have announced a spesh one-off Christmas show to be held in their hometown of Mansfield on December 23, complete with special guests.
Given the festive title “Santa Is Coming to Mansfield”, tickets for the Mansfield Tavern show – also featuring WAAX – will go on sale this Friday, November 17 from 9am AEST.
They mean it when they say that Santa’s coming, too, with comedian Aaron Gocs donning the festive fat guy’s attire for the evening. Meanwhile, Lindsay ‘The Doctor’ McDougall (Frenzal Rhomb, ex-Triple j) will try to rein in all of the madness as host.
Violent Soho are proud Mansfieldians (if indeed that’s the correct term), and are looking forward to their homecoming.
“We love playing the Mansfield Tavern! When we were kids it was called the Rock Arena and they had bands like Grinspoon and No Doubt play – it doesn’t really get that many bands playing there anymore. Being 30 minutes out of the city it makes sense, but we’re from the suburbs and love any excuse to take it back! Rumour has it that it’s up for sale, so we want to play it at least one more time before our spiritual stomping ground is sold and we can’t play there anymore. It’s literally the only way to see us with a home field advantage.
“We’re going all-out on the Christmas theme and putting together a VERY different set list. So come and celebrate the festive time of year in our suburb of Mansfield in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia with us. It’s going to be one for the ages!”
If this all doesn’t sound wild enough, attendees will be able to score a free Chrissie-themed photo taken with both the band and Santa from 5pm on the night. Spots for the shoot are limited though, so get your tickets ready and get in early.
