In an unboxing video posted to the official Queen YouTube channel this week, guitarist Brian May describes the creative process of the new Monopoly: Queen Edition board game as “like making an album.”
The game takes players through Queen’s gig history – from their very first show at Imperial College in 1970 to their last with Freddie Mercury at Knebworth Park in 1986 – as well as the history of the band. Instead of properties and stations, players buy up show venues and smash singles, upgrading them to larger productions and albums, respectively.
The tokens are, of course, Queen-related. Will you choose the Brian May Red Special guitar? The News of the World robot? The hammer (to Fall)? The fat-bottomed girl on the bicycle? Watch the rather engrossing 18-minute video below to discover the rest of the tokens, and see May explain all the other parts of the board. Adorable and awesome!
