Lana Del Rey has covered legendary tune You’ll Never Walk Alone for an upcoming Liverpool FC doco entitled The End of the Storm.
While many know the song from Liverpool band Gerry and the Pacemakers’ 1963 version, it originally hailed from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel. These days it’s one of the most famous club anthems in the world, sung by Liverpool fans before every home game – and even some away games, as you can see in this stirring footage from 2013 at Melbourne’s MCG, when 100,000 Liverpool supporters serenaded their club before the Englishmen clobbered Melbourne Victory 2-0.
Del Rey announced news of her cover via Instagram, also belting out a live acapella take. It’s right here – complete with redundant pop shield.
The track is available as a 7″ single from the LFC store, with all proceeds from sales going to charity.
