Melbourne punk rock band The Peep Tempel have just dropped the clip for Rayguns, one of the many belters from their upcoming album Joy.
Singer-songwriter Blake Scott leads the charge in the satirical video, which comprises a montage of hilarious footage primarily featuring the band as newsreaders (there’s also plenty of awkward dancing in shiny bike shorts, though). The lyrics – detailing the fear-mongering, narrow-minded parade of the political scrum – scroll along the bottom like a news ticker.
The band’s new record Joy is due out October 14, and we’ve a brilliant Q+A coming up with Blake Scott; in a riveting little taster, we’ll reveal that the repeated “hello!”s at the song’s beginning were Scott testing the headphone mix. “I think I may have been doing Frank Walker from National Tiles,” he told us.
