It’s Tuesday at STACK HQ, and that means one of our esteemed staff members picks a ditty they’re listening to today and explains why they’re so fond of it. Today’s tune: Leon Bridges, Coming Home, chosen by STACK’s Tim Lambert.
Leon Bridges in an old soul. Relatively unknown before his amazing debut album Coming Home, the 26-year-old has drawn comparison to soul legends Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. But he is anything but a parody act; he attempts to bridge the gap between classic soul and today’s contemporary music with songs about loves, loss, faith and redemption.
The title track of his debut album was also the song which I watched my now-wife walk down the aisle to, performed acoustically by our dear friend, Sam O’Brien of Melbourne indie-folk duo Venus Court. A song and a moment that I will never forget.
