The ultra-prolific Ty Segall is to return early in the New Year with a new self-titled long player.

2016 has been a relatively quiet year for the scuzz guitar king – just the one album Emotional Mugger – but given that he has released something like 20 albums since 2008, we won’t begrudge the fact that he’s been taking things a bit more slowly of late.

However, he will be back at the end of January with Ty Segall, which was recorded with a full band made up of old pals Mikal Croniin, Emmett Kelly and Charles Moothart, plus Ben Boye, best known for his work with Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy.

According to the presser, Ty Segall – also the name of his 2008 debut – will boast some of his most “lobe-blasting neckwork” and “visceral and penetrating vocal passages”; the first track to be shared from the new album is Orange Color Queen.
