We rummaged through the vinyl racks at JB Hi-Fi with Conrad Sewell to get a taste of the records his digs. The Brisbane lad’s eagerly awaited debut album LIFE is out now.

Here are some of the surprises he picked up…

2Pac, Greatest Hits (1998)

“I’m a huge Tupac fan. This is the Greatest Hits so I guess you have them all on there;  All About U, All Eyez On Me, Keep Ya Head Up, Hit ‘Em Up… the most swear words ever to be in a song that I know all the words to.”

Killers, Sam’s Town

“This is pretty big for me. In fact, so big I have a lyric tattoed on my arm from All These Things That I’ve Done, which is on their first album. When You Were Young is hands down one of my favourite songs. When you see The Killers live, they play it twice.”

Arctic Monkeys, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not

“This record, I found in a record store in England when they first came out. I didn’t listen to that much rock music at the time but the baselines, the lyric content and the way Alex Turner told stories made me want to be a rockstar…. and wear leather jackets everywhere… and talk in an English accent, hehe.”

Fleetwood Mac, Rumours.

This record was obviously massive. One of the greatest albums of all time. Dreams – I used to cover that in pubs and it was a huge influence. Fleetwood Mac taught me how to harmonise.

The Temptations, All The Time

“Ooh, The Temptations;  huge influence on me. Pretty much anything from the Motown era; Gladys Night and the Pips, Stevie.”

Anderson .Paak, Malibu (2016)

“I’m a big fan of this guy; Anderson .Paak. I thought this album was one of the best records that’s come out in the last couple of years.”
